I would be inclined to think he may be in a lot of trouble now, particularly with Immigration.

He would have got 30/60 days visa exempt on UK passport and could extend again for 1900 THB for extra month

Probably only overstayed by a day or two if he was meant to fly out of bkk yesterday

Don't think immigration will care too much about a kid who stayed on the beach party after it was over

Trouble for kids these days is that communication is just too bleedin' easy and interventionist with over-protective families rushing to the press at the least sign of lack of contact. When I did the 'hippy trail' to India from the UK in the seventies communication was by post restante! Oh for those dreamy take-care-of-yourself days! I didn't even know where my parents were living when I got back to the UK and had to phone my Dad's previous boss. And don't get me wrong - I couldn't have wished for a more caring set of parents; they just knew that I was sensible and that throwing wobblies would be counterproductive. You have to take risks as a parent.

I have to agree these hippy-dippy wannabes ,tribes of losers great name are not well like by the majority of Thais. The only Thais that wish to see more of them tend to be scammers . Full Moon Party/Khao San Road/Pai are good examples. (A Sucker Born Every Minute) They give little to the Thai economy and cause more problems then they are worth. Hopefully with the stricker visa rules being enforced there should be fewer of them. I avoid getting near any of them like the plague . Traveled much of my youth before the internet and cell phones in many remote areas of the world. The majority of the youth today would not last a day where i have been. Total lack of common sense and disrespect towards other cultures does not make them well loved. Besides they look like total raga muffins. Looking for a job has never been illegal in Thailand, it's only when you find one that a valid working permit is required.... But I think diving schools are not too fussy about permits

SYDNEY: -- MISSING British man Jordan Jacobs has been found after disappearing in Thailand almost a week ago.

“Jordan Jacobs has been located by local authorities in Koh Phi Phi, Thailand, and is safe and well,” a spokesman for the UK’s Foreign Office said.

“Our embassy staff have spoken with him to check on his welfare and we will remain in contact with his family to provide any further assistance required.”

The traveller migrated to Asia earlier this year after living in Far North Queensland briefly. He was expected to return home for Christmas however a “free ride” from a local man seems to have landed him in trouble.

On Facebook, the family of the young man sporting a beard and tattoos wrote that his disappearance was out of character. Of most concern was a phone call they received six days ago.
