Recently, saw ad that seems to indicate can renew motor vehicle registration at 711 stores.

Is that correct?

Also, if car is over 7+ years old, would have to go to Land Transport for safety check. Correct?

If it's the same ad I can remember seeing on a 7/11 door it was for the basic compulsory insurance and not the actual registration as far as I can recall.

The road worthiness check of cars older than 7 years is not done at the DLT but at independent garages sporting this sign:

After a cursory check they will give you a report, that you take with you to the DLT when paying the road tax. If you wish, for an extra few hundred Baht they can also save you the trip and go to the DLT for you.

Remember that you have to pay the compulsory insurance before you can pay the road tax.
