You are making up incorrect and baseless assumptions about my country being "in on it"!

It's my country too, and it is also flawed. Like I said, do some reading and research first. Then comment.

Seeing as you are British too, I'll let you off 555

And it's Christmas too - have a good 'un.

Sure is, don't get too drunk and enjoythumbsup.gif

What game of chess awaits the media, the "saving face" card will be a major player. For all we know, things will be seen to be done, but in reality who knows what deals and "agreements" have been made.

The B2 are found guilty, sentenced, justice is seen to be done, perpetrators found, pat on the back to RTP,(face saved) case closed,

Several months go by may be a year, attention dies down, B2 released through a back door with a nice "compensation" and nobody is any the wiser.

Its all smoke and mirrors, or is that winks, handshakes and envelopes to cover up incompetency and the previous pay off to destroy/hide evidence by those who were in a financial position to pay for it to go away.

The actual truth, despite all the hot air and "experts" will never be known...........sadly.sad.png but hey TIT

This case never stood a chance being tried down on Samui. It should've been moved to BKK. Everyone down there is related to each other. There was never going to be any justice or fairness.

Wouldn't surprise me if the judge is related to the real killers.

Only one option left for these 2 guys; Prison Break or A-team.

It shows us all once again what is possible here. They don't give a rats a-ss about losing face. They care about protecting their own no matter what.

I did read all about this last year and I've read articles from The Telegraph and The Guardian today. The Thai mafia/local kids is hearsay and hasn't been backed up. Without witnesses, this case was always going to be difficult to prove, but the forensics seem to suggest the Burmese are guilty, case over and goodbye!

I just want to go on the record and say that I find some of the 'But hey, it's Christmas!' posts in extremely poor taste given the sombre nature of this thread. Thanks.

10 million bhat was the tea money so I've heard

I'd be surprised if it was that much.

You'd be surprised how ridiculously small the "bribes" (campaign contributions) in America to "get something done".

For example, John McCain threw the tanker contract to Airbus, instead of the American company Boeing for only $1500.

The defense told you the police forensic department was not at intl standard or ISO 17025 like Pornthips which is true

But what they dont tell you is neither are the UK police only people providing services for the police.

102. As already noted, all FSPs providing services for the police must be accredited to ISO 17025—this is a requirement under the current procurement strategy. However, police in-house forensic services are currently not subject to the same requirement.

That is why, even thought sometimes it is not easy to defend, I always was against the death penalty, nowhere I believe in human justice, nowhere.

Killing an innocent is an unforgivable crime, I do not speak only for Thailand, but in most countries if the prosecution or the police are (honestly) convinced of the culpability of someone they could sometimes biased something because they are convinced of this or that.

Most humans are not wise enough to be entrusted with the death penalty.

Tell that to the families of the people who've been murdered by murderers who've been released from prison. They'd give you a good argument FOR capital punishment.

Typical Thailand , DNA does not match, or has proper paperwork to prove it was tested thoroughly, The dates on the paperwork were added after the Interview,None of this poor evidence would stand up in any other Civilized country shame on Thailand , This will just end up a big stick to beat Thailand with, it will come back to bite them , Money number one again , I feel sick, it was always going to be pinned on these poor guys,

Good job RTP. Just because their DNA was not on the "hoe" does not mean they did not use it. Mistakes are made by the police in every single investigation. Some minor and some big but mistakes do not in themselves make the subjects "not guilty". The judges heard all the evidence, the objections, the Defense objections and after all that they decided "Guilty". I agree with the conviction and believe based on what I have heard it is a just decision. The weight of the world was on these judges and they ruled appropriately. Good for them, good for the investigators and sorry for the two defendants. I hope now they get the ultimate sentence. "Death". In my opinion.

Anyone surprised whistling.gifwhistling.gif

Like your quote.... However I am so disgusted by this verdict.... ! I can't even put my utter disgust into words...!

And still no closure on this sad event for the families of the deceased.

But hey, whatever you do, don't criticise or ask questions ... people at the top may be angered!

I've just seen David's brother make a statement on the news saying the family were happy with the verdict and the thai justice wasn't a shambles as it was made out to be through this trial.

That rumbling sound is his brother rolling over in his grave.

I'm surprised how many posters on here think it's ok to murder and rape two tourists, feeling sorry for the Burmese. If it was in the UK and two Thai's were killed in the same way and migrants were implicated, the guilty verdict would be same!

Appeal time, this isnt done, world media is going to be all over this.

One more nail in the Juntas coffin.

Not so sure about that /.... the world right now doesn't really care about what happens in Thailand as they are more concerned with the fears imposed by ISIL

You think the right judgement was reached on what you have heard ? Would you like to tell us what you have heard ? because those who think they are innocent have been assured of guilt by things that only the Millar family have heard.

The families seem to be convinced of their guilt (BBC) and they attended the trial. They also, no doubt, had access to information not privy to the rest of us. I would refrain from jumping to conclusions and 'Thai bashing' to be honest. Let's see what happens at the inevitable appeal.

It is my understanding that the family did not attend the trial but flew in for the verdict.

I also have to question the assumption that the family might be privy to information that is not obtainable by the rest of us...... Or declared as evidence in the actual trial.....

Why should this be?

Why should such information if known by the family, not be made available to everybody in Open court?

Do the UK police use their own in-house forensic services for extracting DNA from murdered and possibly raped victims or do they use it for DNA collection of normal arrests, there's a huge difference. Do UK Crown courts allow the presentation of DNA from murdered victims to be taken as evidence knowing its not passed the standard ISO 17025? (I doubt it) but without knowing that your link is irrelevant.

This is going to appeal, quite rightly so, the due process of law is not over yet.

Very true, this will be old news tomorrow. Verdict was guilty, tomorrow is Christmas Day and after that it will be about Sangin or Syria. I doubt the British press will even report on any appeal.

I wouldn't be surprised if the timing of the announcement of the verdict was in the hope that Xmas would dilute any outrage. I can see the Drama Mail headline now. "Buddhists use Christian holiday to cover up injustice."

You are right it is going to be an uphill struggle to keep this in the international eye.

Do you think that if the exact same trial and the exact same proceedings happened in the US or the UK then the verdict would have been guilty?

My brain and common sense tells me that yes, they did it. My heart tells me different. The BIB are NOT to be trusted as is the Thai judicial system. I have been here 10 years and my experiences tell me otherwise. Burmese people are aggressive, no doubt. I have read many news articles of what they get up to. How ever as a rule of law, nothing was followed. The police are their worst enemy.

Have they got the right people.............maybe. Did they follow the correct procedure............ no. My heart did skip a beat this evening when I heard the result. Unfortunately, the BIB can not and are not trusted! An element of doubt will always make me unsure. Did they do it, could they have done it? Remember it is an Asian trait to deny anything even if you are caught fair and square.

Am I unsure...........yes............... but hey! this is Thailand.

Where justice is denied, where poverty is enforced, where ignorance prevails, and where any one class is made to feel that society is an organized conspiracy to oppress, rob and degrade them, neither persons nor property will be safe.

Merry Xmas Guys. There is no smoke without fire...................... I think.

Does David Miller know how many people have been hanged in the UK in the 50's and 60's, and subsequently found to be innocent. I hope he thinks about that when the B2 will die!

David Miller is dead. He was murdered. His father is Ian Miller if that's what you mean.

Anybody who thought these two were innocent were living on wishful thinking and ultra biased reports of what was going on in court. I am not for the death penalty but these two are animals and except for their early admissions to police, their lawyers, embassy and rights workers they have showed absolutely no remorse. The people who represented them on this idiotic defense of innocence should be ashamed of themselves. They should have advised they plead guilty and have some hope of seeing freedom again .... then again these two are animals who I don't believe will ever not pose a risk to society.

This is no time to be making silly jokes. I'd still ask you a question tho....would YOU show remorse for something you didn't do?

They Already plead

Guilty-- after being tortured!!! But, I suppose you don't believe that happened and prefer to believe the most incompetent police force on the planet. The police will never admit to any wrongdoing--- They're Thai, you know.

This is a lie the Miller family and Hannah's attended the trial not all of it but the days they were not there they got reports from the UK embassy
