Help with my Smartphone.

Featured Replies

I have been with AIS for years, since I stopped my internet recently I keep getting charged even when I am not using the phone.

Am I doing something wrong which keeps my top up going down?

Your phone is likely checking for email or some such so using data at the much higher cost now that you do not have an internet plan - you need to turn off any data access in your phone settings.

Assuming you have Android, go into Playstore, settings and set so that apps are only updated via wifi.

Installed apps will use data to update current info such as news, weather etc. It you turn data off its hardly worth having a smartphone.

I have the AIS 199 monthly package incl 1GB of data, thats more than enough for most people

Many people are being forced to use smartphone even if not wanting such functions with the move to 3G only. So turning off internet access is the answer for them.

If you mean AIS sim data deal, go to an AIS shop such as in Tukcom or Central Festival, or similar, they will do it for you

What's the make and model of your phone?

If you had a monthly plan from AIS, turning off the data won't work. I had a plan that I canceled twice. They charged me 20 baht to cancel but still took money off my balance every month. I took out the SIM and destroyed it. Apparently they don't like to cancel monthly plans.

If you are with AIS, you can use the following USSD codes to ENABLE/DISABLE Data Access, so even if your phone makes a data request without your permission the account won't allow it to go through.

AIS

OPPO A11w

The quickest way is to put the phone in to airplane mode, usually found in settings.

Kind of makes it rather useless as a phone, too, though.

Indeed. It's just a quick way to turn of any data leakage at night for example.

Though, would be easier just to turn off data roaming in settings. Don't need an app for that.
