We have True vision so thinking of bundling and getting the cable internet too. They have three speeds 15mbps, 30 and 50. We aren't gamers or anything like that. Just want decent speed and not wait a minute for pages to load. Don't need anything lightning fast. Would 15mbps do the job?

I thought internet companies were quoting speeds of near 400?

Other thing, there doesn't seem to be a download limit? For example now I have AIS on my phone and only get 12gb then the speed cuts back to near nothing. No where on the promo sheet did it say anything about download limits and from what I can understand the lady was telling me unlimited full speed download all month. Does that sound right or does it choke after 20gb or something. Appreciate any advice

Mobile internet is a complete different story.

Its absolutely usual to throttle after a certain volume.

Fixed lines are always true flat rates (at least never saw anything different).

Is the TrueVision necessarily bundled with the internet?

Othwerwise: when you have the 15 Mbit/s line then do a test run with IPTV offers like ExPatTV and 365TV.

You might then consider canceling TrueVision.

I have the 30 down / 3 up package here in Hua Hin and am very impressed. The connection is super stable, no on/off on/off like I had with TOT ADSL.

I thought that the high speed would be limited to within Thailand but I can do a speed test to California and still get over 20 down and 3 up. We aren't using the TV that came bundled with it, but this package also includes a sim card with 100 mins and unlimited internet ( which I'm sure gets throttled at some point). All this is 799 baht, a bargain in my opinion.

. Is it definitely Fiber or is it Docsis? Do a speedtest at about 8.30pm see if it's still any good!

Have no idea what Docsis is, but just tested now at 21:00 To BKK 32.6 down/3.7 up. Test to Modesto Calif 20.93 down/3.46 up

You are lucky then. Sounds like you may have the real Fiber or it's not over subscribed yet.

Docsis is an upgraded coaxial connection that True used to call fiber (small f)

some of the speed tests are inaccurate due to local caching.

Recommend you try:

TestMy.net Broadband Internet Speed Test

> click Test Servers in the top right to change server locations.

Well that is very interesting, using that site for testing gives my 2.5 down from California and 6 from Hong Kong.

I do know that this is an actual fiber connection right to the router as I helped them string the cable and watched him prepare the fiber ( smaller than a human hair) to attach to the router.

Regardless which speed test is the correct one, I can say that I'm very happy with this service compared to my old TOT ADSL, in speed, stability and price. Now lets just hope it stays this way tongue.png

The testmy.net is correct as it's not fooled by local caching like OOKLA/Flash based testers are frequently.

For speed to international websites the ISP's international gateway servers are the critical link (chokepoint). xDSL, DOCSIS cable, fiber optics local lines (i.e., the last mile to you residence) all must go thru the ISP's international gateway servers on the way in and out of the country, but not for in-country websites.

I moved from TOT to True as TOT said they could not give me fiber and all I could get was 10 mbps. Got the True package 30 mbsp, 2 x platinum tv packages and one sim with free calls all for 2900 baht/month. I am living in Bangkok. The internet has been good and the service was also very good. Set up the package and the people were here to hook up the fiber 2 days later.
