Residence Certificate for motorbike ownership change

Featured Replies

Hello !

A guy from Chiangmai will buy the motorbike from my hubby.

For the ownership change, what docs does my hub need?

1. Copy of passport, visa, work permit

2. Sales contract

3. Dose he also need a Residence Certificate ? Or any other docs ?

PS: We are not sure if the guy will use current plate or Chianmai plate yet.

Thanks

Work permit OR residence certificate

Only a farang BUYER needs a Residence Certificate. The seller does not. He only needs a signed copy of his passport. A Bill of Sale may also be needed. But if both people go to the Dept of Land Transport to change title, they will confirm whatever else may be needed.

A few Land Transport Depts. require foreign sellers to have proof of address, i.e. residence certificate or work permit. It should not be required. It is a local anomaly. Don't know about Chiang Mai.

Selling a car in Pattaya last month both seller and buyer were asked for a residence certificate, I had my yellow house book with me and that was accepted.

Needed.

An it is an official form in Thai language.

Has to be signed by seller and buyer.

Yep. Sold a moto a couple of years ago and BOTH buyer and seller need proof of residence in Banglamung (Pattaya).

Just to set the record straight:

BOTH seller and buyer are required to have a Work Permit OR Residence Certificate if they are not a Thai National.
