Entry to Myanmar on Extension

Hi- I'm on an extension of stay(retirement) and am visiting Maesot. Is it possible for me to cross the border and not screw up my current extension? I'm a US citizen and don't have multi-entry extension.

You must get a re-entry permit to protect your extension of stay. (1000 Bht from immigration.)

Leaving the country without a re-entry permit will have the effect of cancelling your extension.

Some crossing have what is sometimes called a VIP pass so you can enter Myanmar without being stamped out of the country. If that is not available you would need a re-entry permit to keep your extension valid.
