Victims speak out after nightmare New Year in Cologne

COLOGNE: -- There werte protests in Cologne on Tuesday night in front of the cathedral which, along with the train station, was the scene of mayhem on New Year’s Eve when a crowd of about 1000 young men, many of them drunk, attacked passersby and police with fireworks, and went on a robbery and sexual assault rampage.

The killing of 14 people at a holiday party in a social service centre in San Bernardino, California, was considered a terrorist attack.

Police in Vietnam search for radioactive device missing from cement plant

BAC KAN: -- Police in the northern province of Bac Kan are searching for an industrial device containing a radioactive substance which has recently been found missing from a closed cement factory, Thanh Nien News reported.

3.5 tremor hits Mae Hong Son

MAE HONG SON: -- A 3.5 magnitude earthquake rocked Mae Sarieng district of Mae Hong Son province this morning, the Seismological Bureau said.

It said the quake happened at 04.28 am with epicentre located four kilometres deep underground in Tambon Mae Ho of Mae Sarieng district.

The quake was felt by residents in the town but there was no report of damages and injuries.

However the strong quake shook houses and awoke many from their beds.
