Consumer confidence index in December highest in seven months

BANGKOK: -- Consumer confidence index rose for the third straight month in December, the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) said today.

It said the confidence index in December was 76.1 points, the third straight month increase and the highest in the past seven months.

UTCC said positive factors contributing to the confidence increase are the government’s economic stimulus packages, mainly the “Shop Chuay Chart” shopping campaign, the central bank’s GDP growth adjustment from 2.7% to 2.8% due to third quarter economic growth which was over the target, and falling domestic oil prices.

But it also warned of negative factors that could impede the growth which include the GDP growth forecast this year at 3.5%, a slight decrease from earlier projection, Chinese economic slowdown, Thai export contraction of 7.4% in November, low farm prices, weakened Baht currency, and International politics.

Why am i not surprised??

I see the talk but not the walk. I guess the bank has lowered their loan requirements and said "let the good times roll on" Boy when this debt party ends buy some Asparin stock. China stock market circuit breakers blew only 30 minutes into the trading day. Second time this week. Boy that exit door is getting narrower and narrower all the time. When the rush starts in ernest for the doorway thats when the real fun starts. I still remember 1987. Tonight in the USA and tomorrow should be interesting. I think the first trading week kind of sets the tone for the rest of the year. Its going to get ugly out there. Run that consumer confidence thingee by me again. I think I just had an attack of the vapors.

Follow up - THAI stock market tumbled 24.7 points at the opening of the trade this morning which analysts said was investor's concern about the Chinese stock market crash today. 2016-01-07

So hows the confidence for 2016 sanding up so far then ? LOL

What they are truly saying is that more Thai,s used there credit card but can not pay credit card so were is the gain. More Thais in debt with no payments coming. More lip service!
