Child support visa - court order ?

Hi everybody,

I am not married yet, have a girlfriend with whom I am living in a house in Bangkok.
Our son is 4 years old, and I would like to apply for a child support visa, probably in savannakhet.

I had tried to obtain this visa some time ago at Bangkok Immigration, but it was rejected because I have no rights on my child.
The officer told me I need a court order.

1 ) Where do we apply for this court order ?
2 ) How long does it take to get the requested papers ?
3 ) Once I have this court order, is it possible to apply for child support visa in savannakhet without financial proofs ?
4 ) How does this visa work ? Is it one year multiple entry, but with visa runs every 90 days ?

It would be a non-o visa based upon being the parent of a Thai. There is no child support visa.

You can get a single entry non-o visa in Vientiane or Savannakhet with just your name on the birth certificate. You can also apply for a 60 day extension to visit your child at an immigration office.

Immigration was referring to what you would need to get a one year extension of stay based upon being the parent of a Thai. You would also need 400k baht in Thai bank or proof of 40k baht income.

Even after legitimizing your parenthood you would not be able to get a multiple entry non-o visa in Savannakhet unless your child and their mother was with you when you do the application to prove you are living together as a family (de facto marriage).

You can get a multiple entry non-o with just your name on the birth certificate in Penang if you can show at least 100k baht in the bank.

You should visit your local Amphur as they will be the ones dealing with the registration. There's an outside chance if your with the mother that the Amphur will do it without a court order but they will advise you about any necessary court process.

If you get a multiple entry non 'O' from Savannakhet or Penang you can enter as often as you like for 1 year. The maximum stay for any entry is 90 days after which you have to do a border run or apply for an extension of stay. If you enter close to the end of the year you receive a new 90 day stay giving you a total stay of nearly 15 months. At the end of the 15 months you can apply for a 60 day extension of stay OR a 1 year extension of stay OR go and get a new visa.

Note: As you have a child you can apply for a 60 day extension of stay with just the birth certificate. You do not have to be the legal father. This extension can be applied for once on any entry by any visa.

It might take 3 months to finalally finish because the court might give the mother 30 days to change her mind that is what happened in my case

As with many other items there is a Visa for supporting support Thai National child.

A NON-O visa it is that has to be applied for.

If you have a Vaild visa then you need to convert this visa or cancel.

Canceling is the easiest by going out of Thailand to an embassy abroad. and them come back.

To apply is easy.

get the DNA certificate from the Police Hospital in Bangkok.

Costs 5.000 bath per person

Father mother and child appear at the same time at the Forensic unit of the hospital. all takes about 1 hour.

after one or two months you get the documents send home

Prepare the other information and documentation needed for the NON-O immigrant Visa Application needed. Be aware you with this application are seen as family so you can apply with the prerequisites for family and that is currently the 40.000 income per month income or 400.000 on the bank for at least two months. Fo r the Bank statement you need to have a letter of the bank. Be Aware this letter of the bank has to be issued on the SAME day as you do your application

Have pictures of you and the child in different situations at home, around home as well family pictures. Also some picture you and the child and people around you. they sometime asks for them.

The Visa Taking Care of Thai Child has NOTHING to do with custody or other rights. Just allow you to stay in Thailand as long as you look after the child and support the child. See a recent NON-O Visa based on taking care of Child with Thai nationality enclosed.

That is an extension of stay done at immigration under clause 2.18 of .Police Order 327/2557 basis for extension of stay.

"2.18 In the case of being a family member of a Thai national (applicable only to parents, spouse, children, adopted children, or spouse’s children):"

No where does it say it is for supporting a child.
