Seoul media: S.Korea fires warning shots after drone spotted

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — News reports say that South Korea has fired warning shots after a North Korean drone was seen crossing the Korean border.

Yonhap news agency reported the North Korean drone returned to the North on Wednesday shortly after the South fired.

South Korea's Defense Ministry couldn't immediately confirm the report.

The incident comes amid animosities between the two Koreas in the wake of North Korea's nuclear test one week ago.

South Korea's president earlier Wednesday urged North Korea's only major ally, China, to help punish Pyongyang's recent nuclear test with the strongest possible international sanctions.

So the S. Koreans missed it?whistling.gif

Headline says "warning shots", and other reports say the drone was "near" the border, not across.

An interception, without clear cut violation of air space, could have caused further escalation, which is not something that South Korea seems to want at this time.
