At least 14 dead in blast at Pakistan polio centre

PAKISTAN -- A bomb attack against a polio vaccination centre in Pakistan has killed at least 14 people. Most of the dead were reportedly police deployed to protect health workers.

The blast hit a police van in Quetta, the capital of the unstable Balochistan province in the country’s southwest.

At least 20 people were injured; police are investigating whether it was a suicide bomb.

Attacks by Islamist militants who believe polio vaccination is a Western conspiracy had declined last year.

Pakistan and Afghanistan are said to be the only two countries where the disease is still endemic.

CIA have committed to cease this activity. Very true, but the legacy of that operation has had ongoing ramifications, the killings in the OP are not the only time health workers have been targeted, has happened many times after it was exposed.

During 2013 and 2014 a total of 63 health workers and their security personnel were murdered.
