Min of Education enacts assistance measures in honor of Teacher's Day

BANGKOK, 14 January 2016 (NNT) - The Ministry of Education has planned a series of gifts for teachers nationwide, on the occasion of Teachers’ Day on January 16.

Education Minister Gen Dapong Ratanasuwan is planning to reduce teacher workload, adjust public curriculum, and repair 40,000 teacher dormitories nationwide, as a gift to all educators. The ministry is also expected to work with the private sector in improving 7,000 schools across the country.

Gen Dapong has revealed that Teacher’s Day celebrations are being held until this Sunday by the Teachers’ Council of Thailand at Kurusapha Hall. The event is meant to encourage teachers to follow His Majesty the King’s advice on education.

The Ministry of Education has also instructed their provincial offices to organize a Teacher Appreciation Week, along with various public service activities. Schools have been told to come up with their own Teachers’ Day slogan and promote it throughout the year.

Educators are also encouraged to visit their pupils at home during this week to promote better teacher-student relationships.

maybe they are going to actually give the teachers real lessons on teaching so that they will know more than the ones they are supposed to be teaching, how are you supposed to appreciate a teacher that is simply so far below good teaching standards its not funny.

Why not just let teachers do what they are suppose to do and teach. Instead of the teacher going to each student house as if she has the time and money to travel at their own expense get the parents off their dead asses and visit the school and the classroom.

I work here and the pedestal that certain teachers are put on, or they put themselves on despite possessing very questionable ethics and teaching abilities does leave me shaking my head. By all means give them a gift at the end of term if you want, but these overbearing display of arse kissing are mostly devoid of sense and reason.

Anf for the record, some teachers are very deserving of some recognition and gratitude. But a very healthy (or should that be unhealthy) percentage are simply not IMHO.
