Hi all,

tried to search but there are so many different threads and rules that my head is spinning.

I am currently on a Non-B that has been renewed yearly since 2009.

My contract is running out in April, 2016.
I have statements of earnings of over 40k for the last 12 months.

I have been paying tax and have yearly receipts for doing so.
I am married to a Thai and have children.

What are my options for a Non-O, please?

Where would be the best consulate to apply as I've heard many are different. I am in the south so Penang is my closest, can it be done there? Sorry, seems every one of them have their own set of rules.

What exactly will I need document wise, please?

Thank you in advance for any advice given.

Do you want a single or multiple entry non-o visa?

You can get a single entry visa with no financial proof.

In Penang you would need to show 100k baht in the bank or proof of income for a multiple entry non-o. Not sure they would accept your income from working here.

You can get multiple entry in Savannakhet Laos with no financial proof.

You would need your marriage certificate plus a copy, signed and dated copies of your wife's house book and ID card.

Thank you for the reply.

I take it the multiple entry would give me a year here?

Would I have to do border runs every 3 months or just check-in with immigration?

Thank you in advance for any help given.

My current Non-B expires in April and I have been offered another Non-B with a different employer, is it possible to just transfer them over or do I have to go and apply for a new Non-B in Penang? I heard that it was no longer possible to just transfer from employer to employer?

I am still unsure what would be the best option for me at this time.
If I have to do border runs every 3 months on the Non-O it would be easier for me to just get a new Non-B.
I know I can work on a Non-O but the rest is very confusing......

A multiple entry non-o visa only allows a 90 day entry which means you would have leave every 90 days,

The 90 day reporting is only if you have a one year extension of stay based upon marriage.

If think you are now on a one year extension of stay based upon working not a visa. If you still had a non- b visa you would be leaving the country every 90 days.

It is possible to change employers without going out for a new visa. Your new employer would have to apply for a work permit and get a approval letter for the application. Then you could apply for a new extension showing documents from the new employer and the work permit application approval letter after your current extension is canceled by showing a termination letter from your current employer dated for the date you apply for the new extension.

Yes, just checked I am on a permission to stay for one year.

Is it still possible to change over to a new employer with this visa?

My visa and work permit expire at the end of April so as long as all the paperwork is filled and I have termination letter, then it should be fine to just transfer over without leaving?

Very confusing.....sorry, for all the questions.

To get an extension based upon marriage requires 400k baht in a Thai bank for 2 months or proof of 40k baht income. If you were still working when you applied you could use your income to prove the 40k baht.

You now have an extension of stay based upon working at this time. A visa only allows you to enter the country and get a permit to stay. After you enter the country you are on a permit to stay not a visa.

The important thing to be able to change employer is that your new employer applies for a work permit and get the approval letter for the the application. Then with documents from them you could apply for a new extension.

When my retirement visa ran out in November I obtained a type "O" .The ImmIgration officer told me I could get a marriage visa 4 weeks before the type "o" ran out.Iturned up with all the documents but was told that my 280,000 plus pension(30,000) was not enough. However when I got the type "O"I was told the money was OK?So that was Pattaya ImmIgration.I am now In Udon Thani ,will it be any different here?

You will need 400,000 Baht in a Thai bank for 2 months OR 40,000 Baht monthly income.

NOT a combination of both.
