I want fast wifi at my house. What are my options?

Currently, I live in a free standing house in the cbd of a small city in Northern thailand.

I activate my 'mobile network sharing' on my android phone and connect to wifi on my apple macbook pro. My current dtac plan is 699 baht for 4 gb download. When I use that up it goes to dial up speeds which is frustrating.

I want to buy an apple tv box and thus need fast wifi. We dont currently have a landline but if we get one what are our options for the internet then?

Below are pics of 3BB options. I dont understand what they are offering. What does the 10Mb refer to- I know it means megabyte but what does it mean as part of the package?

If I want to get LAN cables how does the installation work? Is it linked to the telephone cable?

The 3bb brochure mentions fibre optics???

Evidently I'm clueless about all this Please help. post-153811-0-33130900-1453013157_thumb.post-153811-0-58350500-1453013178_thumb.

That is being circulated in the area you live? If fiber optic it will be specific to locations they service - but that is increasing quickly. It is like a normal ADSL phone connection but higher speeds are available and normally the upload is much higher than ADSL. But it will appear to be the same type system to you with a box and normally connection for both Lan cable or WiFi. It should be an improvement to your current situation and without the limitations on downloads.

10-15MB is likely all you will need but really have no idea of Apple requirements.

"Mb" not "MB" tongue.png

All numbers refer to speed in Mbit/s (megabit per second) and have no volume limit.

small city in Northern thailand

Isn't that in the Chaiyaphum area?

Which would be northeast, Isan tongue.png

Basically all the speeds fulfill the needs of most private users.

The fiber optic(30, 50) is recommended over ADSL (10, 15) for stability.

(I have ToT fiber 30/3 and am very satisfied with it)

I would take the 30/3 package for 1290 (plus tax).

30 Mbit/s download, 3 Mbit/s upload.

No idea what I need more as a home user.

And don't expect that you reach such rates on (all) international connections.

If I want to get LAN cables how does the installation work? Is it linked to the telephone cable?

All offers will include cabling to your home and a WiFi capable router.

From there you can connect via LAN cable if you prefer (and even switch WiFi off).

3BB will have nothing to do with a telephone cable.

I currently have the 3bb 30/3 fiber. Before that I had the 3bb 15/1.5 the fiber is alot quicker on ping and seems more stable (the 15 was OK)

Ps: to a Hong Kong server I'm getting 30/3 with slight drops in speed. That's testing using speedtest.com. on testmynet.com it showed at 15/1.5. Many say testmy is more realistic.

I've had 3BB, TOT & now True. They all suck - and I've paid for their 'premium' service and it was no better than 10-14 MBs.

I think if it comes thru a phone line it'll always suck. (Kinda like it did in early '90s in US.)

Not sure of the veracity of this - but once spoke to my (Thai) owner about lack of Hi-Speed cable service. He said, 'Bill with a cable it's all said and done, you'll have great speed and no need for service. But with telephone line service the ISP can keep installing lines, doing other meaningless work and overcharging or taking kickbacks for anything they do. Choice to believe that is yours. I do......
