Subbuteo

Featured Replies

Nowadays its all about Computer games...In my day (before Computers)it was Subbuteo.

I won the only medal in my possession playing such a stupid game....the ball was as big as the player,it was <deleted>-,but I was addicted. It was all about wrist action..which came to serve me well in later years :D I was good at it.....were you????

Any other Subbuteo freaks on the forum.?

Reckon ole Lampy was..he's about my age

It takes a lot to admit to this :D

You gotta flick it to win it :o

lol - yes I was - in the mid 70's - I had Leeds United and Brazil teams.

Had all the crappy accessories too - throwin taker, corner kicker etc.

You're right it was pretty <deleted>, but grat a the time.

There was another similar one in the early 70s I think it was called Striker, where you pressed the players head down and that flicked his leg out and kicked the ball. Anyone know what I mean?

Had several teams i think they were about £1 per team.and of course you need the yuhu glue for the broken players.

My personal fav team was RIVER PLATE.

We even had a mini league played mates home and away SAD but good old days :o

Subuteo eh ?

Well I was bloody good.

And if I was losing I would still slip over and crush your favourite Centre forward .

Take heed Mr Bojangles.......

I used to paint numbers on the back of my players.

I am glad I stopped years ago before they had their names on the back as well...nightmare :D

But I DID paint their hair the right colour :D If a player got trod on , then he was injured for a week (or until the UHU set...but they were never the same piece of plastic after that...bit like real footballers..break both their ankles at once and they are finished.

I made a Chipboard table for my pitch...anyone else do that?, Had the stands, surrounds, floodlights (although you could not see much when they were on and they kept getting in the way!!) We had a referree at our league games who would decide on shoves rarther than flicks, penalties if your plastic man reeled around and crrashed into a plastic opposition player in the box. Those Goalkeepers could certainly move couldn't they? They started out with stretched out wire in the back, then moved up to PLASTIC

And I used to make programmes for the matches and sell them for a penny, and that included a sandwich made by me Mum.

I never won the league...I was runner up....thats when I won my one and only medal....thing was I had to buy it myself :D

The things you do before discovering Girls :o

PS Did anyone try Subbuteo Cricket??? Now that was a game :D

My brother and his mate had a fad of playing 'naked bar football' in boozers around Sheffield.

They used to find a boozer that had a machine in it ,start playing whilst taking their kit off ,then get thrown out.

I dont think it really took off.

It could do in Pattaya mind.
