BANGKOK: -- IMPACT Arena, Exhibition and Conference Center have announced some major new projects for their site in Muang Thong Thani.

Thailand’s largest conference and exhibition complex will be investing over ฿3.5 billion (US$96 million) in a number of developments including a theme park, marina, shopping centre and hotels, reports Travel Daily Media.

“In the near future, we are going to see some of the biggest investments in mega projects in IMPACT’s history, including a ฿200 million theme park sitting along the shore of the lake,” said Paul Kanjanapas, managing director of IMPACT Exhibition Management.

The theme park will be spearheaded by the company behind Universal Studios Singapore – the Sanderson Group. The development is slated to complete by early 2018.

IMPACT hope that these new investments will encourage the development of profitable MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferencing, Exhibitions) tourism in the area.

“Business travellers bringing children onboard attending a conference at our venue can leave their kids at the theme park while they are in a meeting. With our one-stop entertainment complex coupled with other state-of-the art facilities and amenities nearby the exhibition centre, the family would end up staying longer and that is exactly what we are looking for,” explains Kanjanapas.

Then first make sure ALL the personell can speak english.....Foreigners can't even buy a hamburger or sandwich there. Also the security can't speak a word english.

Hopefully they add some more parking to the already crowded area. The ones they just added are already full. They also need to figure out better traffic management for the new venues. It is a mess when driving in that area. I hate going there due to these two issues.

There's loads of parking around the Popular area, criminally, more so on the site of the now long gone former Metro Seafood Centre, which was one of the best places for chilling out in, and having the caper with the hot beer Promo girls I've ever known.

I agree it can be an utter mess on busy days.

A Marina seems a little far fetched when the place is miles from the river.......can only be good for the area.

Marina? I don't recall impact being next to the river or sea. And the "lake" is more like a pond.

There is a man made lake nearby, thats probably what they are referring too.

I even can't find the road to Impact from Chaeng wattana and i have driven it loads of times....

Why not make some good roadsigns to it?

And a skytrain to it would also help a lot to get more visitors.

Try learning a little Thai .

It will make your stay in Thailand much more enjoyable
