New manager for ThaiHealth appointed

BANGKOK: Deputy manager of Thai Health Promotion Foundation Supreeda Adulyanont was on Friday appointed the new manager succeeding Mr Krisada Ruang-areerat who recently resigned.

Deputy Prime Minister Narong Pipattanasai, also chairman of ThaiHealth board, said that the board also set up a selection committee to choose seven new board members replacing those sacked by the National Council for Peace and Order chief General Prayut Chan-ocha invoking Section 44 of the interim charter.

The selection committee comprises Dr Udomsilp Srisaeng-ngarm, head of the committee, Mrs Prapasri Boonviset, representative of PM’s Office; Mr Rapeephan Srivivat, former deputy permanent secretary of PM’s Office; Mrs Thicha Na Nakorn, Witthaya Koonsomboon and Sirikiat Luangkobkit.

The selection committee will put up advertisements inviting those who are interested to apply for the board membership posts and while process of selection should be completed in 30 days.

Admiral Narong said that, in the next, the board will discuss with the Committee to Examine Actions causing Damages to the State on releasing funds which are in excess of five million baht each to the NGOs associated with ThaiHealth.

In the meantime, he said the board would amend regulations regarding the use of ThaiHealth’s funds to ensure transparency and to meet the declared objectives.

There is no mention of qualifications. Why?

Was he appointed or anointed? There is those words transparency and declared objectives again. Those words declared objectives can sure be a land mine. Darn glasses are getting old I think I should get a new pair.
