Public Land Encroachment issue at North Pattaya Beach

PATTAYA: District Officers, Marine Department Officials and even the Deputy Mayor of Pattaya dealt with a case of public land encroachment on Friday at a small community in the Northern outskirts of Pattaya.

Officials attended the Grantinrai Beach at the Rongmaikid Community after discovering, via social media channels, that 3 illegal constructions were present on the beach. Since the military coup in 2014 public land encroachment around Thailand has been a priority issue for the Government to deal with.

On this occasion the officials met with local villagers who claimed they erected the wooden shacks to prevent people from fishing at the beach. We discovered the shacks were being used for social gatherings where beer and whisky would be consumed into the small hours of the morning.

isn't that how west side of walking street started and it is still there right on the beach

It takes social media to discover this?

It seems like a national pastime in Thailand , taking what doesnt belong to you, where is the Government or police or councils , too busy burning brown paper bags i guess.

Maybe City Hall/police just haven't noticed them yet......

Is is the ocean slowly reclaiming the land year by year? Beach road !

My guess is Thais feel it is public land, there is lots of public land around, and they are just using there part of the public land. tongue.png

Plenty of villas, condos and hotels near the sea in Naklua have encroached on the beach with garden and patios and concrete structures - but what the Thai people get victimised for the Russians can do with impunity.

Local villagers claimed they erected the wooden shacks to stop people from fishing at the beach. Why would they want to stop people fishing ? What a lame excuse.

I'll never acclimate to the pathetic excuses they use here. Intelligent societies would never entertain these excuses. Geez!
