What is it that Windows 10 actually does that you feel good with, need and are happy to accept?

It works fine. Like everything else, there is a certain amount of education required.

If it's too complicated for you, buy an Ipad.

it does not work 'fine' and it is just a more patronising extension of previous windows releases.

Actually it does and there are plenty of people here that will tell you the same.

The exceptions are usually the same - trying to run it on years old hardware that isn't even manufactured or supported any more.

I haven't seen anyone complain of a problem that doesn't have a relatively simple solution.

And I've had no problems whatsoever on six devices, five brands.

Have you even tried it?

considering you claim you have 20 people working in 'your office' you seem to be pretty unobservant asking: 'Have you even tried it?

this post is as much about communication as it is about dis- and agreement. so far you have not offered any argument other than the 'i know better' bs.

Given that the OP specifically referred to it as "shit" simply because you didn't understand the update process (and didn't have a backup of your data), I don't really think I need to put as much into a critique as you think.

It isn't shit simply because ( a ) people don't do a little bit of homework, or ( b ) they've heard other people have had problems with it and haven't even tried it themselves, but decide to come out with opinions anyway.

Perhaps you can't read. I personally know at least 20 people and I personally have six devices, none of which have had a sniff of a problem.

Given the hysteria from those that have had the odd problem with old hardware, I would have expected to have seen at least one glitch.

(That isn't to say there aren't any, but they normally found on google and easily fixed).

You, on the other hand, call it "a more patronising extension of previous windows releases". Yeah, that's really an argument, isn't it?

I have used W10 since the first free download and up until recently have had no problems - I am not a sophisticated user just do the basics.

Last Friday, Edge stopped. When I click the icon on the task bar it flickers and goes back to the home screen.

MSSupport shows that this is a common issue but offers no obvious solution.

Other weird things have been my Norton AV disappeared on the 'upgrade' to W10, and just recently my HP Printer software disappeared.

Otherwise it's fine !!

Edge is pants. All my PCS use a synced Firefox browser. Many people like Chrome.

I've stopped using 3rd party anti-virus software on my latest PCS as Defender is equally as capable as most and Norton/Macafee were crossed of my list years ago for being rubbish and resource joggers.

I must admit I only use IE or Edge when I have to.

I like having Chrome synced across all my devices.

I can't say that I'm particularly bothered if Google know my bookmarks.

I've been switching between Win 10 and Linux Mint all morning(too cold to go outside). Linux is a lot faster loading web pages than W10; especially TV.

it certainly is. on a modern pc it outpaces mac's as well.

AND, the updates, most of which do not require re-boots, are rarely larger than 100 megs.

i find it very difficult to fault mint, it is by far the best linux distro i have had the pleasure to work with.

For what most people do on PC's, Puppy Linux will do.

ok, mate, let's have it.

you seem to be so educated on linux, what are you running on your pc? how many hours have you been on linux?

and given all your previous posts, miss - quoting others, what is your issue with conceding that w10 is a step - back?

i asked before: are you working for microsoft. or are you just blind on all three eyes?

I have four PC's and two tablets running Windows 10, as I've already said. Some of them dual boot Linux for some of the pen testing builds I use (Kali and BackTrack). I've been using UNIX in one form or another since the '80's.

As for the rest of your post, it consists of stupidly loaded questions that are meaningless rubbish and don't merit any answer.

Some of them dual boot Linux

I have a 250GB SSD i want to dual boot Linux and Win 10 on. Windows 10 is already on there, is it a pretty straight forward process to add linux? And do both systems boot OK for you?

It works fine. Like everything else, there is a certain amount of education required.

If it's too complicated for you, buy an Ipad.

it does not work 'fine' and it is just a more patronising extension of previous windows releases.

i don't agree that it requires education (provided by whom, anyway?) but rather ignorance.

To accept it's intrusions into your privacy and it's short comings in regards to making your pc a useful and efficient tool.

W10 is a over - engineered giant, and it will do nothing but bad service to microsoft.

"It works fine. Like everything else, there is a certain amount of education required.

Why do some posters have to be so rude to TV members who are only asking for genuine help?

It's super easy to setup a dual boot, especially if you choose Ubuntu or Linux Mint.

I upgraded to 10 on my desktop. Worked good for a couple weeks but started crashing. Got so it wouldn't boot and none of the repair tools worked. Formatted and reloaded 7. Will not upgrade again.

I would suggest you re-read the OP before you decide if the poster was "asking for genuine help"?

Because the question "What is it with W10 that makes YOU willing to put up with it's s..t?" doesn't look much like a request for help to me.

But, you know, English is my first language.

thank you for putting in - and up for me.

chicog just hates peple who have a different opinion from him. or he just hates germans?

he accuses you of not reading the post and than misquotes it. for someone, who's native language is english, he portrays few communication skills worth acquiring.

let it be. and let him live with his own misery.

my last input to this one.

cheers

I ran ScanDisk and it resolved the Edge problem and I reloaded the HP software so all ok at present.

They're is very little wrong with w10 actually, I've not had a single problem with it across all the devices we have at home and a couple of friends computers I helped them upgrade...

The spying features I disabled by that's a personal preference and I don't think m$ is any worse than Google or apple spying on everyone's smartphones but I rather disable it anyway.... DoNotSpy10 does it all in 1 click ;)
