problematic feet

Featured Replies

Since about a year my right front foot feels painful and my left foot started to have same problems a couple of months ago. It also feels if my feet are swollen, or if there's a blister under my front feet but when I touch my feet they feel normal and they're not swollen.

The strange thing to me is that I especially feel the most pain and discomfort after I wake up or when I sit or lie down. Actually when I go for a long walk I don't experience any pain and hardly think of it at all. I use orthotics already for many years.

I've read there could be a relation with high blood sugar but my sugar is only slightly raised, about 120, sometimes lower. The Hb1ac test is also in the normal range.

I've already visited a podiatrist, a chiropractitioner and a general practitioner and I get the idea that they see it as a mechanical problem.

At home I used to walk on bare feet on a stone floor but nowadays I wear plastic slippers.

I wonder what causes this problem, I'm in my late fifties, could it be because of wear and tear?

And are there things which could be beneficial for this problem?

If you notice pain upon walking after you wake up plantar fasciitis is the likely culprit.

I've looked up "plantar fasciitis" but I don't experience any heel pain, only my front feet are painful, feel swollen and there's tingling.

No, it does not sound like plantar fascitis.

I don't know what it is, though, but description suggests either a circulatory problem or some type of neuropathy.

I would start by seeing a vascular specialist for evaluation and among other things, measurement of the ankle-brachial index. If all checks out normal then next stop would be a neurologist specializing in peripheral neuropathy.

This is not normal wear and tear, soemthing else is going in and treatment need to be directed to the cause.

Lived with feet problems for 14 years, like this morning the pain woke me up, some nights cannot even go to sleep because of the pain...

So when my feet are painful is when they are very thin, pain and no feeling in them at all, have a couple of time trod on something and had no idea, one time needed 5 stitches in my foot, had no idea just noticed blood on the floor. since then always wear slippers in the house and plastic shoes with caps over the toes in the garden.

The odd times when my feet have swollen the skin is stretched tight and shiny, then there is No pain, just like pins and needles feeling. started with just one foot, now mostly both feet... up to a point that is good, last week just my left foot was very swollen, so pain in one foot, tingerling in the other..

when swollen find the elastic ankle sock helps, but wear them the wrong way around so most of the foot is covered... [20 baht a pair at 20 baht shop]

I am Diabetic [many years] so put it down to that

Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome. Go for an EMG to rule it out.
