CDC not worried about opposition against new draft charter

BANGKOK, 25 January 2016 (NNT) - The Constitution Drafting Commission is not worried about the opposition against the new draft charter.

CDC member and chairman of the subcommittee on the collection of public opinions Thitipan Chuaboonchai said that after the public sees the details of the new draft charter, which will be disclosed on January 29, there will not likely be any claims about the alleged undemocratic nature of the upcoming Constitution.

Mr. Thitipan is confident that the CDC will be able to explain any doubt the public may have about the new charter and convince all about its strengths and the benefits everyone will get as well as how it will help restore political, economic and social stability in the country.

Regarding the review of the content of the new draft charter on Monday, the CDC will focus on the parts related to the court, he added.

The CDC spokesman went on to say that the review will need a few more days before all articles are looked at while suggesting that the charter drafters have, so far, not added anything but removed some parts to be mentioned in organic laws instead.

Opposition ? What opposition in fact what is opposition, isn't that against the law ?

Of course they're not worried.

They intend to ignore it.

They may be worried that their military masters may reject it.

On the other hand they may understand that they are just playing a part in the game, and so not be worried about that either.

Not many countries can have this kind of confidence, other than North Korea of course.

I can't see the need for their military masters to reject it as I doubt they will release anything that hasn't been drafted for them and pre- approved from on high.

Is there any need for them to be worried when rejection simply means those in power, the military, extend their own time in charge?

Nothing to worry. It's a win-win situation for the elites. Charter full of bobby traps for any elected government if accepted. If not accepted, military stay for re-drafting. It's a no win for democracy.

They managed to hide it that well, did they?

these guys must really think that the Thai people are as dumb as they themselves... coffee1.gif

if someone is part of the CDC and they don't realize that they are part of a game, then you have to ask yourself "why are they on the CDC?"

In a country where the populace's favourite reading material (if any) is comics, who on earth is going to trawl through this tome? blink.png Oh right, no one's meant to coffee1.gif

Every turd written by the junta needs to be rejected. Period. There is no other path.

The last constitution wasn't about having a Military government?

Your opinion of course. Mind you, the Amply Rich elite Shinawatras might agree with you.

On the 29th we can study the latest final draft, in Thai that is.

I didn't know the junta wrote turds. I think you mixed the paths.

That is the luxury of any constitution drafters that draft during a militairy junta.

And they even throw in a referendum, to keep the appearance that there actually is a choice. There really isn't.

Vote no, and they start the cycle all over again, with little or no changes to the previous rejected charter of coure...

All going according to plan...

"Groundhog day" movie comes to mind.. saai.gif

Though I am not expecting them to learn from experience...

Please use discretion in your references to the government. Phrases which can be considered as anti-coup will be removed. Referring to Thailand or the government as a dictatorship, military dictatorship or other such terms will be removed.

Seriously, why are so many Thais so brimming with confidence in the face of long odds? In many cultures this would be viewed as foolish bravado. Is there simply no room for expressing doubt, or making a "qualified" assessment?

There's a two part answer to your question:

1. They are children.

2. It's just propaganda.
