Two Vietnamese women were charged by a Phnom Penh municipal court prosecutor yesterday for allegedly operating an illegal prostitution business from inside their Toul Kork district coffee shop. They have since been sent to Prey Sar Prison, according to a municipal Anti-Human Trafficking officer.

Captain Hong Seng, Deputy Chief of the Municipal Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Unit in Phnom Penh, said that the Vietnamese nationals, Nguven Thi Dao, 36, and Nguven Thi Ner, 29, whose coffee shop is located in Boeng Salang Commune’s Village 17, were charged with “procurement with aggravating circumstance” under articles 284 and 288 of the penal code.

“They were arrested while Anti-Human trafficking police raided their coffee shop on Jan 23, 2016. At the time, some of their employees were having sexual intercourse with guests inside rooms within the shop,” he said.
