Police display weapons seized Tuesday from the campuses of two Bangkok vocational colleges.

BANGKOK — Weapons were found Tuesday on the campuses of two rival vocational colleges in the heart of Bangkok one week before a date known to be commemorated with violence.

Metropolitan police today seized two pistols, 43 knives, 52 bullets and six bulletproof vests from a campus located near MBK Center belonging to Rajamangala University of Technology Tawan-Ok Uthenthawai, or simply Uthenthawai.

Police Maj. Gen. Songpol Wattanachai said he sought a search warrant from the Bangkok South Criminal Court in an attempt to prevent violence between students from Uthentawai and the Pathumwan Institute of Technology, two rivals with a bloody history situated around the corner from each other in the Siam area.

BANGKOK: -- A combined force of police and military searched Rajamongkol Technology University, Uthen Thawai campus, on Tuesday and uncovered an assortment of weapons and bomb-making materials.

The search came six days ahead of the Blue Day on February 1 which marks the founding of the institute.

A large force of police and army personnel accompanied by bomb demolition squad and police sniffer dogs sealed off the campus before they moved in for searches which uncovered 43 knives and swords, 53 rounds of 9mm and 11mm ammunition, bullet proof vests and shields, urea, thinner, oil and nails.

Police said that most of the weapons and bomb-making materials were found in the sports clubs.

Mr Suebpong Muangchu, the vice rector, admitted that he felt sorry that the illegal items were found on the campus despite the fact that he had issued instructions occasionally to tighten up control of the items.

He said that the university would hold a religious ceremony in the morning of February to mark the founding of the institute. As for the entertainment activities scheduled for the evening, he said the organizers would have to seek permission from the National Council for Peace and Order.

Pol Maj-Gen Songphol Wethanachai, commander of 6th division of metropolitan police bureau, said police would question those responsible for the sports clubs where the weapons and other illegal items were found.

No wonder these students are so stupid. It appears they

spend more time fighting rival colleges instead of

studying...... I am trying to picture students from

UCLA having street fights with USC students in

Calif. but I just cannot do it. :-)

I am assuming all the hi-so parents send their

children abroad for a real education. Well except

for Oak....... No wonder they are able to maintain

their position as the ruling class..

The vice-rector is sorry the items were found on campus despite him OCCASIONALLY issuing instructions to tighten up control.

Well that's certainly going to solve the problem ! rolleyes.gifwhistling.gif

That's why I support the building of an arena, rivalling the one of ancient Rome.

These students have expressed talents in the field of combat, and is nothing technical. Let's enhance those talents.

why are these places not shut down, they foster inter gang fighting to show how big their d*cks are and how much better their college is with the faculties knowledge. Time to remove their accreditation to teach anyone at all.

they should draft these kids into the army! then they can all fight one another! biggrin.png

And give them a gun? Are you joking? These morons are not fit to be out with the rest of humanity let alone putting them in a situation where they are given a gun

What gets me is that this is just a small amount of ammo and other paraphernalia for causing damage! Just imagine what those boys have stashed elsewhere if they found this at their schools?

many kitchen utensils on the table, however a few weapons and chemicals are worrying enough.

Vice rector occasionally issued instructions. Great approach to deal with a known violence threat within his campus. He should be sacked for doing virtually nothing about a very serious situation.

And build it in Pattaya so we can have a proper orgy after the games.
