Sorry if that sounds blunt, but my perception of 'Thai Buddhism' is that just about everything in it is inconsistent with the teachings of the Lord Buddha, at best, and at worst, a blatant mockery.

The Lord Buddha sought to help his fellow human beings to free themselves from greed, fear, pride, and the whole string of heavy stones that humans wear around their neck and love as though they were jewels. As far as I know he did not establish complicated rituals for bringing 'good luck' to their shop, their love life, and now their pathetic little dolls.

Mind you, the same happened to the teachings of Confucius, Lao-Tse, and our very own Jesus-Christ. It's called idolatry, and no matter how hard we try to get rid of it, it always seems to find its way back into our hearts and minds.
