CityNews – Military officers and police arrested two men in Chiang Dao who were driving unlicensed vehicles destined to be illegally sold in Burma.

The two suspects identified as Tapha Laoyang, 60 and Ar-chiang Saechao, 40, were driving a car and a motorcycle without licence plates towards the Burmese border. They were stopped at Kew Pha Wok sub-district by officials on February 1.

Officials received a tip-off that a gang would be transporting the vehicles from Thailand to Burma through the area.

I don't get it ... are they driving a stolen car(s) to Myanmar to sell or new cars ? In the first case : shoot them ,

if they just "export" new cars, what's the problem ?

You clearly don't know the Chiang Dao area. Its infamous for drug smugling

I think the problem is no export licence or papers - I know a few Lisu that were selling small motorbikes that they had bought to Burmese they met them at the border got the payment and a nice profit... Been a crackdown by the Burmese though on these grey imports - all imported vehicles I believe now have to go through Rangoon.
