Sukhothai preps to mitigate haze and wildfire

SUKHOTHAI, 5 February 2016 (NNT) – The Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office has prepared measures to mitigate potential haze and wildfire issue that may affect the area, says an official.

Sukhothai Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Official Boonying Kumsupan has revealed that the province has held meetings with related agencies and the local public to establish measures to prevent the haze and wildfire issue in the province, especially in areas surrounding the National Park.

The public are asked to refrain from burning their crops and agricultural waste to prevent the spread of fire, and to refrain from burning anything in open areas to minimize the accumulation of airborne particles.

A disaster prevention official has warned that all violators will be immediately prosecuted if improper burring activities without authorization are discovered.

Sukhothai Province is located next to provinces on alert from the haze and wildfire disaster, but the province itself is not categorized as high-risk.

I just hope Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai local authorities,

are doing something about the upcoming situation as well.

its a yearly occurrence but little seems to be done pro-actively.

regards Worgeordie

in a country where the people think nothing of sitting for two minutes right behind a diesel bus on their scooters waiting for the light to change, i am sure all this organic material being burned is like a breath of fresh air.

and stop burning plastics and other oil based stuff...

Another load of hot air
