PHUKET: Five Thai nationals were arrested and B1,100 was seized after police raided an illegal game of Pok Daeng – a popular Thai gambling game – at a Thalang residence (February 6) yesterday afternoon.

A force of more than half-a-dozen officers from Thalang Police raided a house in Pa Klok’s Moo 4, owned by Ms Noopit Saengjun, 42, who was named as the host of the card game.

The other four suspects detained were named as Mr Jaroon Theprat, 59, of Sisunthon; Ms Amara Saengsuk, 30, of Cherng Talay; Ms Orana Reuangdet, 22 of Takua Thung in Phang Nga and Mr Nikorn Jundee, 27 of Mae Chan in Chiang Rai.

Don't be silly! Can't anyone see it?

They just HAD to go out and do this - don't you see?

Having lost total face with the pensioners arrest, they just HAD to rush out and show the world they could actually do a righteous card-bust. The orders probably came direct from Bangkok!

The fact that it's as ludicrous as the OAP arrests doesn't matter to them - they have gained face back again.

It's like living in a 1960s TV series - a cross between "The Land that Time Forgot" and "Lost Tribes of the Amazon".

It's a good thing that the Dutch Bridge Club and KLM canceled this Sunday's trip with 128 bridge players to a (Puke it) resort for 10 days. Police now have to arrest locals for playing cards.

As far as I know there won't be coming any Bridge Playing Dutch this year to Thailand. All bridge trips are canceled and relocated to a Riu all-inclusive resort at Puerto Vallarta. That is 35x 128 players spending eacht about 200,000 THB on their trip. It's only 90 million THB what they have shot themselves in the foot for...

Come on ... it's easy, not dangerous, doesn't take much time and grabs headlines.

Why not go after the statng gamblers in their home and old folks?

Beats the hell out of patrolling.

Wow, a high stakes game, indeed. A pity the RTP don't demonstrate the same enthusiasm for dealing with real crime, and for dealing with constant nuisances, such as m/c's riding on the pavement.

Thank god! I have been seriously worried about gamblers lately! They...well...are bad right? They cause people problems right?? Well, that's what they tell me
