Porn the barber: Where?

Featured Replies

Just returned after awhile away from Chiang Mai. Two weeks ago I went to my favorite barbershop, run by a hard-working, very pleasant lady named Porn. It's across the street from the Mae Ping hotel, towards Panthip Plaza.

Anyway, the metal shutters were up, and the shop next door said she had had some kind of medical problem. Two days ago I went back -- still shuttered, but now with "For Sale" signs in front.

Anyone know what's happened to Porn (there were always many farang customers in evidence)? And, hopefully, maybe where she has relocated?

Thanx. (I'm still recovering from the bald spots my latest barber inflicted.)

I agree, she is the most pleasant lady barber I have ever known and I miss her too. Unfortunately, my last visit to her this past Fall she said she had been diagnosed with cervical cancer. I did not realize it would take her out of her shop so quickly and was also unpleasantly surprised when I found the shop closed the next time. If anyone else knows how she is doing or if there is anything that can be done to assist her, please let us know.

Sad to hear. She was the first CM barber to cut and shave my head when I came to CM nine years ago. She was further up the soi (closer to Mr K then). She was my son's barber also. Over the years we saw her many times.

i went to her once a week for a haircut off and on for 7 years, she literally lost weight before my eyes. She started to having to rest between haircuts. One day about 2 months ago I went for my weekly cut the shop was closed and never reopened. Very sad, she worked right up until the end. She was always happy and had a smile for everyone.
