BANGKOK: -- A British student whose family launched a worldwide campaign to find a tissue donor after she was diagnosed with a blood cancer has found a match.

Lara Casalotti, 24, was left fighting for her life after doctors told her she needed a stem cell transplant after she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia last December during a trip to Thailand.

As she is of Thai and Italian heritage, doctors warned it would be difficult to find as a match as just three percent of stem cell donors around the world are mixed race.

After a campaign, Match4Lara, was launched to find a match, a staggering 20,000 people signed up to donor registries in the UK, Thailand, the US, Italy

I hope the treatment and transfusion works out well and get that hair and smile back ,

the donor giving 4 hours to harvest the stem cells seems a small amount of time to give some ones life hope,

so who ever you are i applaud you very loudly , well done Sir, Madam .

Excellent news!!!

Much respect to the donor and best wishes for success to Lara.

What a good news !

....God Be With you dear.....

She is young and has a good chance of a complete response for her AML after an allogenic stem sell transplant. But she is not out of the woods quite yet. And Thailand is not the place I would choose for my stem cell transplant. I wish her well.

Beautiful lady...good luck.
