Phetchabun coldest in 30 years

PHETCHABUN, 10 February 2016 (NNT) - The lowest temperature in Phetchabun was recorded at 0 C on Tuesday. Frost was found in many areas across the province.

Many areas in Phetchabun were hit by a cold snap especially the highlands, including the Nam Nao, Khao Ko and Phu Thap Berk national parks. Students in many schools had to study in the sunlight outside due to the cold.

The average temperatures in Phetchabun since Monday night were around 10-12 C. The province now experiences the coldest weather in the last 30 years with temperatures dropping to only 1-2 C at famous tourist sites on mountains. Widespread frost at the Nam Nao national park attracts scores of tourists who prefer to stay in tents.

No chance for the Winter Olympics to be held there then, with only frost on some nights?

Was cold here last night south of the city. 17 degrees indoors. Had to throw an extra duvet on and have a longer cuddle than usual.wink.png

Last night a 2 blanket doona, one blanket. went to bed in my track suit! Will be better tonight.

I used to laugh at all the Thais in parkas and ear muffs when I came here in the winters a long time ago ,now I too am donning long pants and a coat while wondering how I survived the winters back home.Burrrrrr

Cool again tonight but not as bad.

That is cold ! Good excuse for a little Lao Khao anti freeze. Not too much though .... Don't want to collapse on the bed dressed only in boxers.

It ain't called Nam Nao for nothing!
