Can someone tell me about these immigration visits please,are they calling on us all or just visa extensions based on marriage to a Thai or retirement extensions.

It is normal to get a visit by immigration for the first extension based upon marriage. It would be unusual to have one after that.

The immigration office in Surin has started doing visits for extensions for retirement also.

Not sure where you heard that but it is not correct. Immigration seldom do another house visit after the first extension. It does no matter if you have children or not.

Last year is my first extension of stay. The officer who visited my home told me as i have no children,they will visit every year. They have visited my house last friday for my 2nd year extension..

Kap Choeng (Surin) immigration paid me a visit in Buriram following my 3rd Submission of annual extension based on Marriage. They visited after the 1st application but not the 2nd.

They called my wife and arranged the visit giving 3 days notice and asked for copies of house book and ID cards from both our next door neighbours.

They interviewed the neighbours - how long they know me?, photos taken etc - all very amicable.

PS: I don't have children

That is one immigration office out of almost 50. It does not apply at all offices.
