Aker Slashes Pay, Leaves "No Stone Unturned" As It Weathers Downturn

Norway's Aker Solutions said Friday that it's temporarily cutting the salaries of its employees in its maintenance, modifications and operations (MMO) business in order to "raise competitiveness and win more work" for this division. “We are leaving no stone unturned in our efforts to secure a sustainable future for our business,” said Per Harald Kongelf, head of Aker Solutions Norwegian operations.

The news follows Aker's January 15 announcement that as many as 900 permanent positions would be eliminated as the company repositions its Norwegian MMO business. And that move followed the 1,300 permanent and temporary positions that have been eliminated since July 2014 "to a adjust to a market slowdown
