Need a good neurologist in BKK

I need a MRI scan with contrast fluid done as soon as possible. Preferably one with a Tesla 3 scanner, the only hospital i found carrying such a scanner is bangkok hospital. The problem though is that i can't really find any good neurologist on their website.

I've been to Bumrungrad hospital 3 years ago and saw an "american board certified" neurologist there who ordered a MRI for me WITHOUT contrast fluid and of very low quality. She couldn't find anything so forwarded me to a psychiatrist lol... in the past 3 years i've been diagnosed with several chronic diseases which can all attribute to my neurological symptoms, none of it all caused by something "psychiatric". That's actually what bothers me the most about some allopathic specialities, if they can't find anything it must be psychological!

Anyway, any recommendations for who to see / where to go?

@NickJ, thanks, his profile on bummers looks good.

@Sheryl, I have chronic low grade inflammation throughout the body, most organs are affected. I've done multiple MRI's / CT's / PET scans and they all show very small innumerable lesions, these lesions usually only show up with contrast fluid. Especially my intestines are badly affected.

The brain pressure and knife stabbing feeling has increased during the last 6 months so i want to have it checked out. Hormonal tests also show there might be a problem in the HPA-axis, especially with the hypothalamus and pituitary gland.

WHat i want is a high quality MRI scan with contrast fluid to check for small lesions, also with extra focus on the hypothalamus and pituitary gland for tumors.

I'll also need a fine sliced CT scan to check for calcification (runs in the family), i don't believe a MRI alone sufficed for that.

Sorry but I am having trouble relating what you say to any specific known disease entity and any neurologist you see will probably as well.

What exactly is your diagnosis? Is it some type of arteritis?

Ramathibodi Hospital is equipped with the most high-technology in the world. There are many advanced equipments used in Ramathibodi Hospital such as Cyberknife, latest 3-Tesla MRI with parallel RF transmission and in-coil sampling, super-fast 320-slice CT, and modern PET-CT scanners.

Succes !

Not happy or satisfied with the neurologist ? They should provide you the digital files (of imagery) so that you can ask for a second opinion (overseas or not) wherever you want...

You will also require a good neuro-radiologist.

Doctor Chopeow at Bangkok Christian was good for me. Old guy, trained in Canada. Good English. Struck me as someone who knew his onions.

I had an MRI with contrast then a Colloid cyst of the third ventricle removed by microsurgery.

Sheryl, it's quite complicated and i don't expect you will understand it, neither will a run-of-the-mill neurologist. I'm not comfortable sharing all the diseases i have online.

I do have an appointment with a renowed neurologist in the USA who closely works with my specialist in Germany, but the appointment is in 5 months. So in the meanwhile i want to have it checked out as it might help with the consultation in the USA.

Thorgal, thanks, a friend of mine had a bad experience there. He told me most doctors there are in training / just out of uni but i will check it out anyway.

Just a thought but why not ask for an earlier appointment with with the "renowed neurologist in the USA" or the German specialist ?

If seeking care here for a condition(s) which involve multiple diseases I hope you can provide any physician consulted with a full, written(by a doctor) medical history and the reports which arose from the "multiple MRI's / CT's / PET scans" together with the original DVD's which contain the images. Those previous reports/images would be needed for any meaningful comparisons to be made.

Ramathipbodi also has a great deal of Dr's that are the teachers at the medical schools and many also practice at the large private hospitals like Bumsareglad and the others. Would be foolish to discount it from one known event. Or even a handful of them.

I've received a quotation from bumrungrad, a brain brain MRI (1.5T scanner) with contrast fluid costs 18.800 to 20.200 THB. They confirmed they do not have a 3T scanner in the hospital so bumrungrad is out.

Sunnyjim5, because the neurologist is overwhelmed with appointments. Not possible to see him sooner.

Yes, i have all the imaging and full medical history available on DVD.

NickJ, i don't discount the whole hospital, just wondering if that truly is the case about the young doctors.
