Thai Birth Certificate Copy

Featured Replies

My neighbour is trying to get a copy of his wife's Thai birth certificate, she was born in 1976 and left Thailand when 8 months old to the UK, they can't seem to find her records but she needs the birth certificate to claim her Thai citizenship. She was born in Phetchabun, is there anyway around this or advise you guys can offer? There banging there heads against a brick wall currently.

I remember somebody telling me that all births are registered on the national computer so all amphur offices can see them, is this true ? Can her parents go with her to the amphur and confirm that she is there child.

It is not unusual for a birth that long ago not to be in the database.

It means going to the Amphoe where her birth was registered and finding the original birth registration in the their archives.

There will be a paper record. Most likely you'll need to hire someone to sift through the records.

My aunt had to do this a few years back after living overseas for 40+ years. Best of you have the correct Thai spelling, DOB and parents names so that they can cross match.

Thanks for your help I have told my neighbor what you all said but he just told me there was a flood at the Amphoe office many years ago and all the records got lost, any help

I had to do this for my tgf. In the end we went to the hospital where she was born and they had a copy there.

Failing the hospital not having records...

DNA testing to remaining relatives who are Thai citizens. Don't know the process but should be google able. An old member called 'greenwanderer' went through the process. Beleive he has a website out there too but can't remember the name.

'Badbanker' also know a bit about helping Thai who were adopted out getting their citizenship back. 'Mekong Bob' also helped get his adult daughters Thai citizenship sorted too.

Chances are that she was born at home and not a hospital. Back then it was more common than now.

The DNA test will probably be the only route. They should go to the Amphoe where her records were lost and ask them what can done.

I did read somewhere that her family members can witness that she is Thai at the Amphoe office is that true.

Yes that is also possible but it would have to be somebody that was present when she was born.

Only if the documents are all in order.
