One question no Thai immigration officer has never answered for me.

If I have a 60 day visa when is the first day I can apply for a 30 day extension?

If I have a 30 day visa exempt when is the first day I can apply for a 30 day extension?

For both it depends upon the office where you are applying for the extension of stay (visas are not extended).

As a general suggestion I would say 2 weeks before your entry ends.

Thanks. I have done it about 45 days early. But never sure what immigration would say. I like to do it when I am in Pattaya as the office seems good. At least until they added the residency form and caught me off guard. Thanks for correcting my terminology. One female officer at Jomtien actually warned me doing it that early on a 60 day 2 entry visa would shorten my available stay time. Very nice.

So 2 weeks is safe. I still haven't gotten myself to try BKK immigration. Lately I have been avoiding Chiang Mai immigration. Used to do it there.

How do you rate the various immigration offices for extensions of stay?
