LivinginKata
Often no thought to safety when these laterns are released. Once saw on at Karon lagoon released in a very crowded area and stalls. It failed to take of and landed on the tarp roof of one stall setting it n fire. Complete panic and not one fire exstiguisher in sight.
tolsti
When I ran a hotel right on Patong Beach I always posted fire pickets on Loy Kratong night. Everyone thought I was bonkers until one landed in the electricity wires along the front of the hotel.

You're Welcome!! Iwould be interested to know how you tether a Chinese lantern ... You tie one end of a wire to its bottom frame, and then either tie off or weight the other end of the tether. Perhaps this explains it better: http://www.scdf.gov.sg/content/scdf_internet/en/building-professionals/fire-safety-permit-and-certification/use-of-sky-lantern.html Never had an errant one here yet......
