Police bust two suspects in B5mn meth deal

PHUKET: -- Police arrested two key members of a major drug-dealing ring run by an inmate at Yala prison, after the pair confessed to their roles in moving about 5 million baht worth of ya ba (methamphetamine) from Chiang Rai to Southern Thailand.

“This is one of the largest ya ba drug busts that we have been a part of,” Phuket Provincial Police Deputy Commander Pinit Sirichai said at a press conference yesterday.

The network started to unravel after police arrested small-time drug dealer Thanwa SaeKor, 39. Mr Thanwa’s arrest quickly led to the capture of his supplier Bamrung Deekaew, 31, and associate Sorla Pengwang, 27.

5M THB might sound much for some but I bet that this doesn't even cover a weeks worth of meth turnover on Phuket. It seems the drug problem is too widespread for these busts to make a meaningful impect.

Also if a guy can run his criminal network out of a prison and this is a known fact, they might want to first look into properly shutting off their prisoners from the outside world.

Give him solitary confinement for a while and see what his network does.

is it possible that Chang Rai is the "hub" of something, after reading news about drug busts in Thailand over a number of years more often than not "Chan Rai" is involved, is Chang Rai the yabba "hub" of Thailand
