What exactly are pigs in blankets?

Despite the curious name, pigs in blankets are simply sausages wrapped in bacon. The bacon gives a delicious rich salty flavour which contrasts nicely with whichever kind of sausage you choose.

Our pigs in blankets use Sloane's US style streaky bacon wrapped around delicious chipolata sausages. They are so easy to cook, just put them in the oven at 190 degrees for 15-20 mins.

As you would expect the pork is excellent quality and comes from grass fed happy pigs!

There will always be different prices for similar products and although price is important it is not always the only factor when deciding what to buy.

Our sausages and bacon and especially our steaks and seafood are good examples of this. Our wild caught NZ rock cod is more expensive that other imported cod but the reason is clear as soon as you see and touch the product. Many cheaper kinds of cod are soaked in phosphates which draws in water and makes the product heavier (so it sells for a more expensive price). When you thaw out the fish you can also wring out the water and the taste of the fish is bland and chewy. Our NZ cod is wild caught in a sustainable manner and frozen almost as soon as it is caught. There is hardly any water within the fish when thawed, and that shows that it is both fresh, natural (not loaded with phosphates) and it cooks and tastes amazing.

It takes a great deal of time to source, screen and test the products we supply but we believe all this effort is worth it as consumers trust the quality of the goods that we offer, and often thank us for supply these products to them.
