HI,

I'm looking for a border collie in LOS and have been unable to find a starting point with my English searches. There are a few Facebook sites but they really don't seem to be breeders just BC lovers from what i can tell and old posts all have outdated info and links.

Any way any useful information would be well received.

Option 2 is to return to Aus and bring one back but given they need to be at least 6 months old before you can import them (and the costs associated) I think with this option I miss those valuable first few months bonding and training when the pup is most receptive.

Regards,

OK, I'm butting in, I know. You are aware that this dog is a herding breed and is therefore very energetic to say the least? You know how to test the temperament of a puppy to assure it will be submissive and safe, even around children, when grown? You know how to train a dog? You've had border collies before? You have room for it to run and exercise to get rid of excess energy? You are willing to walk it every day? You don't plan to keep it cooped up in a house most of the time?

You know there are breeds of dogs that are much lower energy and much calmer?

Cheers and have fun.

Hi,

Sorry havent checked for a while and for some reason TV emails don't get through to me anymore.

Really, not suited for what reason, Heart worm is preventable, Heat? Oz is hot. Soi dogs or Thai farm dogs? mmmm always an issue.

NeverSure, Yes i am aware of the standard disclaimer for BC's and though i have personally never had BC's before i grew up around them and have have had other energetic breeds that have turned out well trained and well behaved dogs. Yes they require time and patients but its paid back in spades with their characters, I am not looking for a lap, dog just a loyal smart well behaved pooch! Space is no issue.

I have Just had my plans delayed for 3 months so now not looking seriously till June but none the less the Q still stands ANY contacts or breeders out there? any more concerns for Thailand in specific i should be aware of?

Thanks for reply so far

Hi, I have two border collies that I bought in Thailand. I'm sorry I didn't see this post earlier, but I actually have a litter of puppies available right now (three males and four females).

They were born on 10 Feb and will be ready for homes at eight weeks of age (6 April). At that point, all of the puppies will have received their first round of vaccinations and de-worming. They'll also be registered with the KTC and with a microchip.

I live in Bang Na, Bangkok (close to the BTS). If you live in the area, you're welcome to come by and have a look. They're almost six weeks old now, and their personalities are really emerging. You can also see pictures of the individual pups at www.bordercolliethailand.com.

Feel free to contact me for more information.

My favourite dog. Super energetic and intelligent. If I lived back in the UK I would have one for sure. An ex-girlfriend in Northumberland had a failed sheepdog (farmer reckoned it didn't have the required temperament), we used to go running on the beaches, and this old female BC which had had no training used to try rounding us up by instinct.

I have mentioned to my wife the availability of the puppies in case any of her friends are interested (were not far from Bangna).

They really are amazing, aren't they? I introduced mine to livestock a couple years ago, and even without any training whatsoever, they instantly had a firm grasp of the situation. Long outruns, gathering stragglers... it was great to watch. I know that's a far cry from proper herding, but you could see the instinct at work so clearly.

Meanwhile, at home, they're just constantly figuring things out and surprising me with their intelligence. My female learned the names of my other pets in days without me intentionally teaching her. Etc., etc. I'm gushing now. Suffice it to say, I love living with border collies.

I am interested in a BC female puppy,we lost our beloved companion of 12 years to cancer at xmas and wish to replace her with another BC.

Unfortunately PMs are not getting through to you, i think you need 10 posts before that facility can be used

How much are you asking for a female puppy?

Sorry to hear about your loss. I'm asking 20,000 for males and 25,000 for females. This is my 9th post, so I'll go ahead and make another so that people can send me messages. Also, feel free to have a look at www.bordercolliethailand.com for a closer look at the individual pups.

Is that your website? If you're ever needing a wordpress guy in bkk to sort out any problems on it or improvements then pm and I'll give you the name of the European guy who maintains my 2 websites. ..he's inexpensive and very good.

It's just something I put together very quickly so that people who are interested in seeing pictures of the puppies can do so. I update them each week. The site's hastily thrown together, but it does the job. I'll improve it later on my own if I decide to let my dog have another litter. Thanks, though!

It looks like I'm still having trouble sending and receiving messages. Apparently, my quota of active PMs is limited to one. Any ideas on how to address that? I can't find anything in the documentation or forum rules.

Thanks for the reply, I did see these and the timing was perfect but then work has extended my contract and i just cant get one until i have the appropriate time to spend with it.

I see you brought your two BC's in Thailand may i ask where and if you still have the contacts and or any other contacts you found while you were searching?

Sorry for the delay in response but again for some reason TV isn't sending me alert emails so sometimes my checking of the post is a little long winded.

I bought my BCs from two different breeders in Thailand. May I ask when you think you'll be ready to take on a puppy? I only ask because a lot of people have expressed interest in future litters. Most of my current litter have already been reserved, with a few more potential reservations pending. With that in mind, I'll probably breed my dogs at least one more time if there's serious interest.

I'm also having trouble with ThaiVisa notifications and private messages. I started a Facebook page 'Siam Herding Dogs' where you can contact me if you like (www.facebook.com/thailandbordercollies). You can also drop me a message through the contact form on www.bordercolliethailand.com.

Feel free to get in touch with me. I can either help you find a breeder or put you on the list for a future litter. BCs are great dogs, and I'd like to help!
