Rape in Tbong Khmum Leads to Arrest

A 28-year-old man was arrested on Saturday night in Tbong Khmum province after allegedly raping a mentally disabled woman, according to local police.

Von Ven, a farmer from Rong village in Anhchheum commune, was in neighboring Trach village looking after buffalo when he allegedly snuck into the home of 31-year-old Chan Ros at around 8:30 pm.

Long Sarin, the deputy provincial police chief, said Ms. Ros was asleep when the attack occurred.

“While she was sleeping alone in her cottage, the suspect raped her,” he said.
