Guys,

I've heard a rumour that Immigration may start checking into people on Retirement Extensions that are also working. I don't have any more info than that unfortunately.

Now, I can completely understand that being on a Retirement Extension and also working WITHIN THAILAND is probably a massive NO NO but I honestly don't see it making a difference if you work overseas away from Thailand.

Has anyone else heard this and if so, what is your take on it?

  • Retirement extensions are granted on the basis of being over 50 and having the required income/capital. Being retired is not a condition.

As long as you work outside Thailand you don't not break any law/rules regarding the extension.

Just a rumor or misunderstanding.

There is certainly no rule against doing it and I cannot think of reason why they would make such a rule. It would also be virtually unenforceable if they did.
