Shop that can replace battery built into shaver?
bluemoon58 replied to csaba81's topic in Chiang Mai
Personally, if you don't want to do it yourself, I wouldn't trust anyone other than Philips themselves. Contact them on consumersupport(at)philips.com I've used them a couple of times now and been very pleased with the service. -

Why do super markets insist on re stocking shelves during the day?

Why do super markets insist on re stocking shelves during the day? Thai logic! -
Yep, completely agree. I was actually chuckling at the last sentence thinking how inane it was. However, I have a sneaky suspicion the sentence was to wind people up!

Ha ha, I think he was that shocked with my answer that he never spoke again! And, I forgot to say, the barber had a big cheesy grin!

Yep! I've got a salt and pepper dome and was sat in a barber shop in Lagos once and in the other chair was an Asian fella having his hair dyed black. Anyway, I felt his eyes constantly on me so I looked round and asked if he had a problem. He asked why I don't get my hair dyed. I said because I don't want to look like a middle aged man with blatantly obvious dyed hair as I thought it looked ridiculous. He told me that I was rude. I told him not at all, he asked a question, I answered. If he didn't want to hear the truth, he shouldn't have asked. You could cut the silence with a knife!

In the UK you are in and out within hours for a meniscus op. Here they wanted me in for three nights. As he finished the op I actually told the surgeon I would be going home that evening and he made every excuse under the sun for reasons to stay in, including the need to "teach me how to use crutches"! The excuses to me just sounded like earning more money for the hospital. Suffice to say I went home that evening!

I was just thinking that myself Biggun. It never ceases to amaze me how loud they are, be it coughing, sneezing, talking etc! It's like a badge of honour if they're louder than the company they're in! -
American expat escapes Thai jail time for scathing hotel review
bluemoon58 replied to snoop1130's topic in Eastern Thailand
I was very fortunate many years ago to get some good advice from a Brit who worked in the hotel industry here. She warned me never to leave bad reviews on travel sites or social media here as the consequences could be grim. It was good advice as I wasn't aware of the "saving face" culture here at the time because I hadn't been here very long. However, she did explain what she knew to be the best way forward to get it off your chest. She told me to email the General Manager of the hotel chain directly with both good and bad observations and I might be pleasantly surprised at the outcome. I did this and had a response the same day with profuse apologies for the experience I was complaining about and also thanking me for the good observations I commented on. To top it all off, he offered me and "her indoors" a 5 day, 4 night freebie at one of the chains hotels of my choice! I've been here 12 years now and had three freebies over that time by following her sage advice. As a footnote, I know this doesn't give you the gratification of making your complaints known to the wider public but it doesn't half help! -

Myanmar businessman killed over black money deal in Bangkok
bluemoon58 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
From a different angle, and no disrespect intended, it's refreshing to hear that they're hunting 2 Scots and not 2 Brits. From my experience of 12 years here, every time Thais hear the term Brits they automatically think English! So, good on the Thai press for not saying Brits! -
Advertorial UNmute your life story while you still can…
bluemoon58 replied to CharlieH's topic in General Topics
I can't remember if I read it or heard it in an interview many years ago but wherever it was, the theme was that everyone has a book in them but just don't know how to put it into words. Completely agree with this as I've led such a varied life both as a civilian and in the military that I reckon there's a book there. Would I know how to put it into words, no! That's why people have ghost writers who get all the information out of them. -
