NETHERLANDS -- One person has been killed in a train crash in the Netherlands.

At least 10 others were injured when the passenger train derailed near the town of Dalfsen, some 120 kilometres east of Amsterdam.

Carriages toppled over into a field after the train hit a maintenance crane on a crossing at around 9 a.m. on Tuesday. Fortunately, only 15 people or so were travelling on the rush-hour service.

Eyewitness reports say the maintenance vehicle was slowly crossing the tracks when the crash took place. An investigation is underway.

Guess they also grow bananatree's there.

How can a maintenance vehicle cross the tracks? Crossings are all protected by barriers when a train is approaching.

Also Germany had a big trainaccident recently.

In those countries this should never happen, everybody had the perfect training, enough salary, enough holidays, enough food, lunchbreak in time, good material.....everything the best.

It's really time they clean up the whole traincompanies there, too many old stubborn people working there.

Taking the train there costs more then flying in Thailand.

From a BBC News item.......There were 30 accidents on Dutch level crossings in 2015 which claimed the lives of 13 people, reports said.

And I thought Thailand train crossing incidents were high!

15 people travelling on a rush hour train !!! In my time I was used to traveling on the London underground. Packed in like sardines.
