Disease Control Dept steps up effort to control TB

BANGKOK, 24 February 2016 (NNT) - The Department of Disease Control is urgently preventing and controlling tuberculosis after it found that only 59% of TB patients in Thailand had access to medical treatment.

Director-General of the Department of Disease Control M.D.Amnuay Kachina and executives of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration on Tuesday inspected an activity to campaign for tuberculosis treatments. In urban areas or the “Bang Khlo Model” at the Bangkok Rubber PLC. The doctor said TB was still a major public health issue in Thailand and there were currently as many as 120,000 TB patients in the country.

The Bang Khlo Model searches for and treats TB patients in urban areas. It is connected with public health centers to control TB and other chronic diseases which require continuous treatment for six to eight months.

TB symptoms include a bad cough for more than two weeks, a low fever in the evening, no appetite and weight loss. Those with the mentioned symptoms are advised to see doctors immediately since they have a high chance of being cured and preventing the disease from spreading.

TB is considered a contagious disease. It can be spread by coughing

Sad that this disease isn't wiped out ! Disease of the poor, spread to everyone.

I thought the CDC was busy "stepping up efforts" to control / eradicate Dengue... Surely they are not trying to crack down on 2 diseases at the same time???
