Analysts: Economic reform in China to benefit Thai businesses

BANGKOK, 25 February 2016 (NNT) – The Economic Intelligence Center (EIC) of Siam Commercial Bank has predicted that many new opportunities will open up for Thai entrepreneurs as a result of China’s economic reform.

According to an assessment of the EIC, even though China’s economy has been slowing down, the country’s role in the global arena is increasingly growing. Moreover, its current economic reform is expected to cause major changes globally in three aspects. First, China would seek to make more investment overseas, and Thailand would be considered one of its main target markets, especially in the food and car tire industries.

Second, there would be a sharp surge in the purchasing power of medium-income people in China who number around 100 million. Demands for imported products and services would increase accordingly, presenting excellent opportunities for Thai operators to penetrate the Chinese market.

Lastly, China would transform itself from a manufacturer of basic products and imitated goods to a global hub of high-end innovations and technologies within the year 2025. Therefore, the EIC suggested Thai entrepreneurs to strengthen themselves by forming clusters so as to prepare for opportunities coming in from China.

Lastly, China would transform itself from a manufacturer of basic products and imitated goods to a global hub taking away hub status of Thailand as Hub of imitated goods.

Not really. Thailand will be a part of China so it will just be a shift of location within China
