2008bangkok
Whats funny in all this is Apple saying they cannot access the phone yet a vulnerability in there own code allowed FBI to get in. The bottom line is that every version on IOS has been jailbroken so it shows that IOS is not secure. How do you know it is a vulnerability in the iOS? Since the FBI won't publicly say how access was gained it could have been a hardware hack. There has been a lot of speculation that copying the flash drive was the method used. No one knows except the FBI and the third party who accessed the phone although there is a story that the DoJ intends to brief high ranking Senators and the Senate Intelligence Committee on the method used. If you read the IOS security white paper (which sadly i have) you will see that the way they have implemented there encryption is a little more in depth than just the software pin it also uses a secure hardware chip on the phone, so Its not likely you can just remove the flash drive. There will be plenty of IOS vulnerabilities apart from the ones that have been publicly released and used for jailbreaking that security researchers will hold onto until someone comes along and wants to buy it. Every single version of IOS has been jailbroken by finding software vulnerabilities so it makes sense to think that a tool was created based on one such vulnerability and sold to the FBI

Langsuan Man
If the fbi have got in to that phone easily why have they asked Apple to unlock two more. Because they had to pay a "grey hat" for the unlocking and don't want to have to pay for two more They feel Apple should do it for free as a public service
lujanit
And pay the FBI did. The FBI paid more than $1.34 million to hack into the iPhone 5c of dead San Bernardino shooter Syed Rizwan Farook, agency director James Comey admitted on Thursday. watcharacters
As the topic says...hoodwinked. The authorities need a password to open the nutters phone. Don't believe the hype. Without the users password the phone will delete all information. Have you forgotten this murderer was an Islamist loon. There are other Islamist loons on this freaks phone that would like to skin your children alive. Apple says the perception of security is more important than our kids safety. Shame on them. Sad that the Apple sheep believe their nonsense. Too bad you didn't just give the phone to a needy person rather than throw it in a trash bin.
