Vehicle inspection

Featured Replies

My Toyota Hilux is 6 old, will it require inspection before I can take out government insurance/tax, also can I renew the government tax anywhere within Thailand?.

Cheers

Look for the attached sign. If it has the Thai characters in the middle of the cog wheel, they can buy insurance and tax sticker for you too. Just show up with Blue book, pay, and come back in 2 or 3 days and get paperwork.

I thought it was 7 years for cars and trucks ?

Toyota Hilux would have a blue book wouldn't it ? tongue.png green book is for motorbikes.

Yes you can renew any where in Thailand you don't have to go to the vehicles registration plate province.

If you let the testing center do all the paper work ( TAX and insurance ) there will be a small extra charge and sometimes they are quite slow to get it done,

but it does save the hassle of having to go to the department of land transportation yourself.

My local test centre takes about 2 days.vService charge was inspection was about 200 baht, service charge about the same.

When you vehicle is 7 it needs to me "certified"

If you get the inspection done before date in the Blue book, no inspection is required until the next year. Of course if you go to an inspection station, they will do it because that is how they make their money.
