French court approves plan for partial demolition of 'Jungle' camp

CALAIS: -- The French government’s plan to clear part of the ‘Jungle’ migrant camp was on Thursday given the go-ahead by a court in Lille.

The French Interior Ministry said that 800-1,000 people would be evicted under the plan to demolish the southern part of the camp, which is located near Calais and is home to thousands of migrants and refugees.

Aid organisations, however, warned that the number of people affected would be much higher.

French authorities said that the evicted people would be offered shelter in a heated container accommodation near the camp.

Those living in the ‘Jungle’ – migrants and refugees mainly from the Middle East and Africa – came to Calais in the hopes of reaching the UK.

But the British government has refused to admit them.

The sprawling camp has become a controversial issue in both France and the UK.

Calais officials have said that the ‘Jungle’ is home to around 3,700 people – and that they want that number reduced to around 2,000.

Maybe some luvvies will prostrate themselves in front of the bulldozers .

Is it really beyond the powers of these states, who are so self righteous about observing law and order in their own populations, to deal with illegal immigrants?

Seems time for a "do not bother to come here you are wasting your thousands of dollars in smuggling fees" message to be sent out loud and clear.

These types are laughing at the impotence of Europe to control them and are an absolute menace to the society to which they neither hold any allegiance nor have any respect for.

What are their plans to earn a living, should they successfully reach their goal states? Crime.

Legitimate refugees from terrible situations are not acting like these encamped here, and should be treated with humanity and respect. Criminal chancers should be sent packing.

hey, am I a right wing fascist pig now?

You right wing fascist pig you - don't you know all these illegal immigrants want is to be allowed to illegally enter the UK, which they believe to be a softer touch than France.

They'll leave all their crap for the French to clear up because they expect Britain to provide everything they want.

And, they demand this.

Angela should demand all EU countries, especially Germany, take their quota from this camp, and be quick about it.

You must change with the times - what's right, just, fair and honest are no longer important or relevant. Just become PC, condemn your own Western country, its culture, history, values and freedoms and embrace the "new" world pseudo religious and political system.

Let us not forget that the vast majority of these people are decent and honest and simply want a better life than the one they have had so far.

Of course there will be criminals amongst them, but that should not cloud the issue.

I don't know about you, but I did travel half way around the world in order to find a better life... not so different.

You're trying to compare us to economic migrants, whereas there's no comparison. We're self-sufficient and actually boost the Thai economy. We don't expect free housing, dole money, medical treatment etc. We don't expect citizenship. We don't molest the local women. We don't groom their children for sex. We don't plant bombs and behead people. We don't set up our own laws or parliament etc etc etc.
