Compression socks

Hospitals... Or order online from your home country and have them posted here (preferably via a friend so you don't get hit for tax).

I use 'Skins' calf compression which work very well, but other brands also sell Calf Compression such as Adidas so checking in the local sports shops is not a bad idea.

Boots at the Airport sell flights socks - the quality isn't great, but they are thin and don't allow your feet to get too hot.

Sports Socks - Some are also compression socks - again check the sports shops

I found a great pair in a Pharmacy in Hua Hin - I never saw them again at the same pharmacy when I returned a year later. So, its possible to find them at a Pharmacy - just keep your eyes open when out and about.

..Boike ..suss out this website:

Yes, You can pay upwards of $60-$80 USD per pair of knee length compression hose buying Jobst and Juzo name brands.

They are very well made stockings.

I order 8-10 pair at a time and purchase the $25 in house brand! They are very good! Of course, not the same quality at the pricier versions, but they work fine.

Once I get up in the morning, I don my stockings and wear them all day. You can shower, swim and do whatever with them on throughout the day. The worse thing any of us can do is to sit at a computer desk with blood pooling in our lower extremities. Big change in my energy level. No kidding the stockings prevent lymphodemia and with more blood in one's chest, it makes a big difference. Yeah, they look a little weird, but who cares?

Before you jump on the fad of compression socks, do a little research and you will find that the experts are divided on their value for the prevention of DVT's:

One of many articles available via a Google Search:

I'm not sure how much credit I'd give to a Daily Mail article (which is a blocked website in Thailand and can't be opened through most ISP's).

I had a DVT and Pulmonary Embolism at 35 years old... I was fit and healthy, very active - it came as a huge shock, I very nearly clogged it.

The specialists in Singapore told me to wear compression stockings as much as I can.

I wear them during and straight after sport, I wore them last night (under jeans) when out drinking with my friends. I'm wearing them now.

The huge difference I have notices is that my legs feel less tired when I've been on my feet all day (or evening).

I also 'pop' a baby aspirin each day.

I had no trouble opening the cited website using TOT, if I had I would not have known to list it

And I too have had a DVT and take Warfarin daily and home test my INR levels and my US Hematologist does not advise me to use them despite knowing I travel to Thailand every year

My point is not every doctor recommends them and that there are differing opinions out there

Thanks, also I had no problem opening the page.

For me it's the idea behind the use of compression socks to avoid blood pooling which can lead to blood clothing. And there I believe that they should help.

I fly more than 100,000 miles a year and compression socks have made a big difference for me. Before I began using them, on long, 8+ hour flights my feet would swell so much it would be difficult to get my shoes on. A physician friend advised I use compression socks and they completely eliminated the swelling.

Proper fit is really important. This short video explains how to properly measure and fit them.

Amazon.com has a large selection in calf, knee and thigh length. I found full length thigh stockings to be too hot and uncomfortable on long flights. i use "knee Hi's" and they seem to work well. I paid about $30

It may be difficult to get a really proper pair here in Thailand though a friend was able to get a pair at a major hospital pharmacy in Bangkok, sorry, forget which one.. Still worth it to get the best you can and then buy a high quality pair you can when you are back in the west. They seem to last pretty well. I've used my pair for 3 years. I hand wash in cold water only using little soap so the elastic won't degrade.

Get an aisle seat and walk around don't sit all the time ,

Bad advice.

That wont stop the problem if someone has an existing issue.

The socks work great.

I use them all the time as I fly a lot and they have made a big difference and yes I always get an aisle seat and walk around a lot but it wasnt enough.

Compression has been used in sports for decades . The crap they sell at most hospitals and drug stores is laughable compared to products at compression sports . Was a game changer for my running and workouts so if a person has health issues with legs or feet this is a real help . You get what you pay for , wish someone had told me about this company before I wasted money again and again on the compression wear at hospital and drug stores we normally see that's not really in same league as these products that come with 2 year replacement guarantee and will not loose their fit in a few weeks like all the others or won't stay up post-202056-14569038020103_thumb.jpg

After using for running don't think I could go back . The support it gives is quite amazing . Possibly my times are the same but the feeling is a game changer . The company has 30 day use and return for complete refund if you don't want to keep . Banana2U is a great shop here to buy they have a shop across the street from Lumpini park and a great website .
